Split PDF writes every page of the document into its own PDF and hands you a ZIP: name-p1.pdf, name-p2.pdf and so on. Each page is copied intact, with its fonts and images, so the single-page files open anywhere and look exactly like the original page.
A one-page document has nothing to split and the tool says so rather than producing an empty ZIP.
If you need pages 3–7 as one file, or pages 1, 4 and 9 together, use Extract Pages — it takes a range like 1-3, 5, 8-10 and produces a single PDF. Remove Pages does the opposite: keeps everything except the pages you list.
