Every page gets a label in the form 1 / 12 — current page and total — centred at the bottom, 22 points above the edge, in 10-point Helvetica, dark grey. The label is real text in the page content, so it prints crisply and is picked up by search in any viewer.
Numbering always starts at 1 on the first page of the file. If your document has a cover you do not want counted, split it off first, number the body, then merge the cover back.
There are no options for font, position or format yet; the conventional bottom-centre X / N is what most documents need. If you want numbers in a header, a different format or only on some pages, open the PDF in the editor and add text where you like.
